French Press
Prep time: 10 minutes
Yield: 3 to 4 Mugs
The French Press, also known as a press pot or plunger pot, is a popular brewing method that produces a full-bodied and rich cup of coffee. Here are the steps to prepare coffee using a French Press:Ingredients
- 60 grams Choice Coffee beans
- 4 cups filtered water* (1 Lt)
- 8-cup / 1 liter French Press
Instructions
- Boil water: Start by boiling water in a kettle. It is recommended to use filtered water to ensure a clean taste.
- Grind Choice Coffee coffee beans to a coarse consistency. You will need around 60 grams of coffee for every 1000 ml of water.
- Preheat the French Press: Pour hot water into the French Press to preheat it. This will help maintain the temperature of the coffee during brewing and prevent heat loss.
- Add coffee grounds: Add the coffee grounds to the French Press.
- Pour water: Pour hot water over the coffee grounds, saturating them completely. Stir the coffee for about 10 seconds to ensure even extraction.
- Steep: Place the plunger on top of the French Press but do not push it down yet. Let the coffee steep for about 4-5 minutes.
- Press the plunger: Press down on the plunger slowly and steadily, using firm pressure. This will separate the coffee grounds from the brewed coffee.
- Serve and enjoy: Pour the brewed coffee into a mug or carafe and enjoy the rich and full-bodied taste of French Press coffee.
Note: The French Press allows for experimentation with different brewing methods and variables, such as water temperature, coffee grind size, and steeping time. Adjust these variables to find your preferred method and taste. Also, remember to clean the French Press after each use to prevent the buildup of coffee oils, which can affect the taste of the coffee

- Wait for the coffee to drip: Allow the coffee to drip through the filter and into the Chemex. This will take around 3-4 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy: Once all the coffee has dripped through, remove the filter and serve the coffee. Enjoy the clean, crisp taste of the Chemex-brewed coffee.
Note: It is recommended to use a gooseneck kettle for precise pouring control. Also, remember to clean the Chemex after each use to prevent the buildup of coffee oils, which can affect the taste of the coffee
